Autumn is arguably the most beautiful time of the year to visit the Appalachian Mountains, so naturally it’s a great time to consider planning your big day or next special event at Castle Ladyhawke. However, if you’re like me and haven’t yet had the opportunity to visit this beautiful venue in person, you may be wondering what makes it special. Here are five things that quickly grabbed my attention and have me excited to experience the Castle myself.

1. Majestic Mountain Views

What’s better than a beautiful view of the mountains? A beautiful view of the mountains from within a castle. There are multiple vantage points in and around Castle Ladyhawke to enjoy, including the Mountain View Lawn, Outdoor Terrace, and the Carriage House. Rising above all of these is the iconic tower, offering nearly 360° of breathtaking views. These sights combined with authentic Scottish Border castle architecture are sure to have anyone who visits feeling like royalty.

2. Top Notch Catering

Amazing views pair well with amazing food, and Castle Ladyhawke’s primary catering partner and Michelin-star trained chef Johannes Klapdohr has us covered. Chef Johannes offers an incredible selection of menu items tailored for the season as well as the tastes and dietary requirements of all our guests. Whether you want a Mexican-themed menu complete with a taco bar and sopapilla station or a fall-themed menu to match the views, Chef Johannes will craft it for you with the finest ingredients.

3. A Space for Every Occasion

Every event, whether it’s a wedding or a corporate gathering, has its own unique needs regarding the use of space within the venue. Castle Ladyhawke was built with that sentiment in mind, offering five unique locations both inside and outside for ceremonies, receptions, and more. Want to get married outside in front of more than 100 of your closest friends and family with a gorgeous mountain view behind you? Check out the Mountain View Lawn! Having live music? The Great Hall has great acoustics and easy access to the balcony for anyone who wants to get some fresh, mountain air. Each location at Castle Ladyhawke is flexible so that your event can be tailored to your specific needs.

4. The Honeymoon Suite

Spending a day at a castle is great, but spending the night in a castle as newlyweds sounds like the icing on the royal wedding cake. Castle Ladyhawke makes that possible with its newly renovated Honeymoon Suite. The suite is complete with a fireplace, beautiful classic-style furnishings, and of course a breathtaking view to wake up to. If you want to complete your special day truly feeling like a King/Queen, this is the room for you and your partner. However, if a resort-like experience is more your style, Bear Lake Reserve has you covered with a variety of 5-star mountain lodge homes for you and all your guests.

5. Convenient Seclusion

The natural beauty of Castle Ladyhawke and its mountain views are only further enhanced by its convenient location. Just 5 minutes from the Castle is Bear Lake Reserve, which offers a variety of lodging options as well as dining, a full bar, shopping, and a variety of activities for all ages to enjoy. If you’re looking for a home away from home for you and your guests for the weekend as you celebrate your special day, Bear Lake Reserve is the place for you. Looking to venture out and explore somewhere new while you’re there? Check out the nearby town of Sylva! Located just 20 minutes away from Castle Ladyhawke, Sylva has a variety of wineries/breweries, dining, and shopping options such as The Wine Bar and Cellar, Ilda, White Moon, and Jame. Jame caught my attention quickly with its unique Mediterranean menu and convenient grab-and-go market, and I’ve heard Ilda has some delicious meatballs. I’m also personally excited to get to Innovation Brewing and try their Bear Lake Brown ale!

As the newest marketing intern at Castle Ladyhawke, I’m thrilled to get more acquainted with such a picturesque venue. Between the views, the food and drink, the kind people, and all that Bear Lake Reserve and the town of Sylva have to offer, there’s certainly no shortage of experiences to be had!
